German Rauchbiers, Smoked Lagers, Smoked Porters, Smoked Stouts, Smoked Wheat Beers, Smoked Scottish Ales, Smoked Saisons, and Smoked IPAs.

Smoke flavor in beer dates back centuries, when beer brewing grains were dried with wood fires. Most early beers would have had some smoke component in the flavor. Beechwood has been used for centuries in Bamberg, Germany to produce classic German Rauchbiers, where the smokiest of beers are brewed with 100% smoked malt. Cherrywood, Alder, Pecan, Oak, and Applewood are all popular today for smoking grains. In Scotland, there is a history of smoking malt with Peat, which adds an intense smoke flavor.
