Dry-Hopped Craft Brewed Beers

Dry Hopping beers is the process of adding hops (compressed pellets or whole leaf) to beer after primary fermentation is complete. Dry hopping is typically done for 7-10 days, and adds fresh hoppy aromas to craft brewed beers. In addition to aromas their may be some perceived flavors from the process when the beer is consumed. The process, however, does not have any impact on the bitterness of the beer, hop bitterness is extracted from oils in hops at high temperatures, during the boil, or from first-wort-hopping during the sparging of grains with hot water.

Drinking beers which have been dry-hopped is a great way to experience the aroma character of hop varieties. You may find a certain hop or combination of hops in a dry-hopped beer that becomes a favorite, then use that info to find other similarly hopped beers, or to brew your own beer.

Dry-hopping can produce a wide variety of aromas including; citrusy, fruity, herbal, spicy, earthy, piney, and floral. Specific aromas can include tangerine, lemon, grapefruit, passion fruit, pineapple, blueberry, mango, peach, lychee, gooseberry, and more.

We’ve hand picked a selection of beers which have been dry-hopped that offer an interesting mix of hop aromas.
