All Grain Single-Hopped Session Style IPA Recipe

Profile: HomeBrew recipe for a Rye IPA brewed with New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hops, similar to Alpine Beer’s Nelson. Medium-bodied with aromas and flavors of fresh crushed gooseberries, white wine grapes, and fruit. The malt bill uses a portion of Rye Malt which adds a touch of malty spice. High hop bitterness in the finish.

Ingredients:

Malts

12.5 lbs Pale 2-row Malt

1.5 lb Rye Malt

8 oz. Crystal 40

8 oz. CaraPils

4 oz. Crystal 60

Hops (Pellets)

1 oz. Nelson Sauvin 12%a, 60 minutes – First Wort Hopped

1 oz. Nelson Sauvin 12%a, 30 minutes

1/2 oz. Nelson Sauvin 12%a. at 15 minutes

1/2 oz. Nelson Sauvin 12%a. at 5 minutes

Yeast: White Labs WLP001 California Yeast or Wyeast 1056 American Ale

Dry-Hop: 1.5  oz. Nelson Sauvin

Instructions:

Mash all grains for 1 hour at 152 degrees.

Sparge at 170 degrees.

One hour boil with hop regimen above.

Ferment at 65-68 degrees.

Rack to keg or secondary and age for 5 weeks. Add dry hops for the last 7 days.
