All American Wheat Beer HomeBrew Recipe 

Profile: HomeBrew recipe for an American Wheat Beer brewed with Amarillo hops, Similar to Breakside Brewery Amarillo Wheat. Medium-bodied with notes of tangerine, orange citrus, and fresh wheat. Flavored with orange zest.



6 lbs Pilsner 2-row

5.5 lb White Wheat Malt

8 oz. Un-malted Wheat


1 oz. Amarillo  8%a, 60 minutes

1/2 oz. Amarillo  8%a, 20 minutes

1/2 oz. Amarillo  8%a, 5 minutes

1/2 oz. Amarillo  8%a, at flameout


12 oz. Rice Hulls (mix with grain in mash – helps the sparging with a sticky wheat mash)

Zest from 2 large oranges.

YeastWhite Labs WLP029 German Ale/Kolsch Yeast or Wyeast 2565 Kolsch


Step Mash all grains with rice hulls:

125 degrees for 30 minutes

150 degrees for 60 minutes

Sparge at 170 degrees.

One hour boil with hop regimen above. Add orange zest at flameout.

Ferment at 63-67 degrees.

Rack to keg or secondary and age for 4 weeks.
