All Grain Belgian India Red Ale Recipe

Profile: HomeBrew recipe for a Belgian-Style India Red Ale. Aromas of citrus, berries, and fruity Belgian yeast. Medium-bodied with bold fruity and citrusy hop flavors. Dry finish with very high hop bitterness.



12 lbs Pale 2 -row

1 lb. Munich

12 oz. CaraRed

12 oz. Crystal 80

4 oz. Crystal 100

3 oz. Special B


1 oz. Magnum 14%a, 60 minutes

1 oz. Citra 11%a, 30 minutes

1 oz. Mosaic 13%a, 30 minutes

1 oz. Citra 11%a, 5 minutes

YeastWyeast 5522 Belgian Ardennes or White Labs WLP550 Belgian Ale

Dry-Hops: 1 oz. Citra, 1 oz. Mosaic


Mash all grains for 1 hour at 152 degrees.

Sparge at 170 degrees.

One hour boil with hop regimen above.

Ferment at 65-68 degrees.

Rack to keg or secondary and age for 6 weeks. Add dry hops for the last 7 days.

    i just made this, but had to sub some malts (lhbs did not have carared so i added 8oz C-20, 2oz victory, and 2oz carapils (also no C-100 so i added 3oz C-90 and 1oz C-120)
    then i bumped the late hops to Mosaic 10min, Citra flame-out)
    had to use dry yeast so went with T-58

    even with the changes i made it still sounds great. thanks for sharing!
