All Grain Black Wheat IPA Recipe
Profile: HomeBrew recipe for a Black Wheat IPA. Crisp and hoppy with notes of tropical fruit, citrus, and dark caramel. Smooth finish with high hop bitterness. Dry-hopped with Citra and Nelson Sauvin hops.
Ingredients:
Malts
8 lbs Pale 2-row Malt
4 lbs Wheat Malt
8 oz. Midnight Wheat
6 oz. Chocolate Wheat
4 oz. Carafa III
Hops (Pellets)
1 oz. Magnum 14%a, 60 minutes
1 oz. Simcoe 13%a, at 30 minutes
1 oz. Citra 11%a. at 10 minutes
1 oz. Nelson Sauvin 12%a. at 5 minutes
Other: 12 oz. Rice Hulls (helps with the sticky wheat mash)
Yeast: White Labs WLP001 California Yeast or Wyeast 1056 American Ale
Dry-Hop: 1 oz. Citra, 1 oz. Nelson Sauvin
Instructions:
Mash all grains with rice hulls for 1 hour at 151 degrees.
Sparge at 170 degrees.
One hour boil with hop regimen above.
Ferment at 65-68 degrees.
