All Grain Citra Rye IPA Recipe

Profile: HomeBrew recipe for a Rye IPA brewed with Magnum hops for bittering and Citra hops for flavor and aroma. Light copper color. Aromas of mango, passion fruit, grapefruit, and lime citrus. Flavors of citrusy and fruity hops with some spicy rye and toasted malt notes. High hop bitterness. Dry-hopped.



6 lbs Pale Malt

6 lbs Maris Otter

2 lbs Rye Malt

1 lb Crystal 40

5 oz. Acid Malt

Hops (Pellets)

1 oz. Citra 14%a, 60 minutes – First Wort Hopped

1 oz. Magnum 14%a, 60 minutes

1/2 oz. Citra 14%a, 15 minutes

1/2 oz. Citra 14%a. at flameout

YeastWyeast 1318 London Ale III or White Labs WLP007 Dry English Ale

Dry-Hop: 1  oz. Citra – whole leaf hops


Mash all grains for 1 hour at 152 degrees.

Sparge at 170 degrees.

One hour boil with hop regimen above.

Ferment at 63-68 degrees.

Rack to keg or secondary and add dry hops.

    Nice complex malt bill. Citra hops go well with the spice rye malt.
