All Grain HomeBrew Double IPA Recipe

Profile: HomeBrew recipe for a Double IPA, similar to Karbach Rodeo Clown. Medium-bodied with floral and citrus hop aromas and some biscuity malt in the nose. Moderately high bitterness level. Blend of European and American hops.

Ingredients:

Malts

14.5 lbs 2-Row Pale Malt

1.25 lb. Munich

1 lb. Biscuit

8 oz. Crystal 120

8 oz. Crystal 70

Hops

1 1/2 oz. Magnum 14%a, 60 minutes

1 oz Chinook 13%a, 30 minutes

1/2 oz. Amarillo 8%a, 20 minutes

1/2 oz. Simcoe 13%a, 20 minutes

1/4 oz. Citra 11%a, 20 minutes

1/2 oz. East Kent Goldings 5%a, flameout

Yeast: American Ale

Dry-Hop: 1/2 oz. Citra, 1/2 oz. East Kent Goldings, 1/2 oz. Sapphir

Instructions:

Mash all grains for 1 hour at 152 degrees.

Sparge at 170 degrees.

One hour boil with hop regimen above.

Ferment at 63-68 degrees.

Rack to keg or secondary and dry hop for 7-10 days.

Rack to keg or secondary and age for 6-8 weeks.
