All Grain Irish Style Red Ale Recipe

Profile: HomeBrew recipe for an Irish Red Ale similar to Great Lakes Conway’s Irish Ale. Medium-bodied with smooth caramel malt flavors and earthy hop notes. Crisp balanced finish with moderate bitterness.



12.5 lbs Pale 2- row

1.25 lbs Crystal 77


3/4 oz. Northern Brewer 9%a, 60 minutes

1 oz. Willamette 5%a, 10 minutes

YeastWyeast 1084 Irish Ale Yeast or White Labs WLP004 Irish Ale Yeast


Mash all grains for 1 hour at 150 degrees.

Sparge at 170 degrees.

One hour boil with hop regimen above.

Ferment at 63-68 degrees.

Rack to keg or secondary and age for 4 weeks.

    I have tried this receipt except with a few changes.
    - Mash slightly higher @ 152
    - Use London Ale Yeast.
    I have used the Irish Ale Yeast and the beer came out one the sweeter side. The London Ale has more of a cleaner/muted finish and allows the maltiness to come through.
