Profile: HomeBrew recipe for an intensely hopped black lager. Big piney hop and citrus aromas. Medium-bodied with light roast and chocolaty flavors blended with bold piney and earthy hop notes. Crisp finish with high hop bitterness.
8 lbs Pale 2-row
4 lbs Pilsner 2-row
1 lb Munich Light
1 lb Vienna
8 oz. Crystal 80
6 oz. Chocolate Malt
6 oz. Carafa III
1 oz. Chinook 13%a, 60 minutes
1 oz. Chinook 13%a, at 20 minutes
1 oz. Simcoe 13%a, at 20 minutes
1 oz. Simcoe 13%a, at 5 minutes
Dry-Hops: 1 oz. Simcoe
Mash all grains for 1 hour at 150 degrees.
Sparge at 170 degrees.
One hour boil with hop regimen above.
Chill down to 50F and pitch yeast.
Ferment for about 10-14 days until primary fermentation just finishes.
Diacetyl Rest: Raise beer temp to 62-65F for 2-3 days.
