All Grain Imperial Red Ale Recipe

Profile: HomeBrew recipe for an Imperial Red Ale, similar to Kern River Dirty Hippie. Big hoppy red ale with aromas of pine and dank earthy hops. Medium-bodied with resinous hop flavors and caramel malt sweetness. Dry finish with high hop bitterness. Dry-hopped with Simcoe and Summit hops.

Ingredients

Malts

14 lbs Pale 2-row

2 lbs Munich Light

12 oz. Crystal 70

6 oz. CaraMunich

2 oz. Carafa I

Hops

1 oz. Summit 18%a, 60 minutes

1 oz. Simcoe 13%a, 30 minutes

1 oz. Summit 18%a, 10 minutes

1 oz. Simcoe 13%a, 5 minutes

YeastWhite Labs WLP001 California Yeast or Wyeast 1056 American Ale

Dry-Hops: 1 oz. Simcoe, 1 oz. Summit

Instructions:

Mash all grains for 1 hour at 152 degrees.

Sparge at 170 degrees.

One hour boil with hop regimen above.

Ferment at 63-68 degrees.

Rack to keg or secondary and age for 6-7 weeks. Add dry hops for the last 10 days.

    I am interested in making a 10 gallon batch of this beer. Does anyone know if it is as simple as doubling the recipe? Or are their other calculations that need to be made?
