All Grain HomeBrew Belgian Quadrupel Recipe

Profile: HomeBrew recipe for a Belgian Style Quadrupel, similar to The Lost Abbey’s Judgement Day. Full-bodied and rich, with a complex malt profile, and sweet finish.



18 lbs Belgian Pale Malt

1.5 lbs  Malted Wheat

12 oz. English Medium Crystal

8 oz. English Dark Crystal

8 oz. Special B

4 oz. Chocolate Malt

12 oz. Amber Candi syrup


1 oz. Challenger 8%a, 60 minutes

1 oz. East Kent Goldings 5%a, 20 minutes

Yeast: Wyeast 1762 Belgian Abbey II (Rochefort yeast) or WLP530 Abbey Ale (Westmalle yeast)


Mash all grains for 1 hour at 152 degrees.

Sparge at 170 degrees.

One hour boil with hop regimen above, stir in candi sugar after 30 minutes of boiling.

Ferment at 66-69 degrees.

Rack to keg or secondary and age for several months.
Use a big yeast starter for this beer
