All Grain HomeBrew Smoked Baltic Porter Recipe
Profile: HomeBrew recipe for a Smoked Baltic Porter, similar to Surly Smoke. Medium-bodied with notes of smoke, dark fruit, and licorice. Aged with oak.
Ingredients:
Malts
10 lbs 2-Row Pale Malt
4 lbs Beechwood Smoked Malt
12 oz. Black Malt
6 oz. Carafa
12 oz. Flaked Oats
Hops
1 1/4 oz. Warrior 16%a, 60 minutes
Yeast: German Lager
Other: Oak spirals or oak chips
Instructions:
Mash all grains for 1 hour at 150 degrees.
Sparge at 170 degrees.
One hour boil with hop regimen above.
Ferment at 50-55 degrees.
Rack to keg or secondary and cold condition for 6 weeks on oak chips or with oak spirals.
