Profile: HomeBrew recipe for a Smoked Rye IPA, similar to Burnside Brewing Smoked Rye IPA. Medium-bodied with flavors of smoke, fruity hops, piney hops, and spicy rye malt. Intensely bitter finish.
7.5 lbs Briess Ashburne Mild Malt
2.5 lbs Briess Cherrywood Smoked Malt
2.5 lbs Malted Rye
8 oz. Crystal 60
1 oz. Simcoe 13%a, 60 minutes
1 oz. Meridian 7%a, 45 minutes
1/2 oz. Simcoe 13%a, 30 minutes
1/2 oz. Meridian 7%a, 30 minutes
1/2 oz. Simcoe 13%a, 10 minutes
1/2 oz. Meridian 7%a, 10 minutes
Other: 12 oz Rice Hulls (help with sticky rye mash)
Mash all grains with rice hulls for 1 hour at 152 degrees.
Sparge at 170 degrees.
One hour boil with hop regimen above.
Ferment at 63-68 degrees.
