Profile: Smoked Porter brewed with 22% wheat malts and three varieties of smoked malt. Smooth and chocolaty with a medium level of interesting smoky flavors. Notes of coffee, dark chocolate, and earthy hops. Moderate hop bitterness. Medium-bodied.
8 lbs Maris Otter
2 lbs Oak Smoked Wheat Malt
1 lb German Rauch Beechwood Smoked Malt
8 oz. Wheat Malt
8 oz. Crystal 60
6 oz. Pale Chocolate Malt
6 oz. Chocolate Wheat Malt
4 oz. Peat Smoked Malt
3 oz. Roasted Barley
1 oz. Nugget 13%a, 60 minutes
1 oz. East Kent Goldings 5%a, 20 minutes
1 oz. East Kent Goldings 5%a, at flameout
Mash all grains for 60 minutes at 152 degrees.
Sparge at 170 degrees.
60 minute boil with hop regimen above.
Primary ferment at 67 degrees.
