New Craft Beers and Seasonal Craft Beers Released in March 2014
March is a big month for Imperial Stout releases, with two of the most coveted versions being released by Founders and Cigar City. New IPAs, Farmhouse Ales, Maibocks, Belgian Style Ales, and more, will also show up on taps and shelves during the month.
Founders Brewing (Grand Rapids, MI) will release their highly sought after Kentucky Breakfast Stout (11.2%, 70 IBUs), a Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout flavored with coffee and chocolate. The beer is aged for one-year in bourbon barrels before release. KBS will go on sale locally in Grand Rapids, MI, on March 18th, and ship to all other locations by the end of the month.
Cigar City (Tampa, FL) will release their world-class Hunaphu’s Imperial Stout (11%, 80 IBUs) at their annual Hunaphu’s Day event, scheduled for March 8th. The Imperial Stout is aged on cacao nibs, ancho chiles, pasilla chiles, cinnamon, and vanilla beans.
Jester King (Austin, TX) will release three new barrel-aged beers in March. Two were aged with red wine grapes, and the third with two types of sour cherries. Online reservations for the beers begins on Monday March 3rd at noon. Sales will happen at the brewery starting on March 7th.
Alpine Beer (Alpine, CA) will have a very limited release of Exponential Hoppiness (10.8%), an Imperial IPA. The IPA is hop-backed, and double dry-hopped. Sales will launch at the brewery on March 6th.
Wicked Weed (Asheville, NC) releases Serenity (5.4%) for the first time in bottles, starting March 1st. Serenity is a 100% Brett Fermented Farmhouse Ale, which won a gold medal at the 2013 GABF.
Stone Brewing’s (Escondido, CA) new Go To IPA (4.5%) Session IPA goes on sale for the first time in March. The low ABV IPA uses a hop bursting technique to increase hop flavors in the beer.
Ninkasi Brewing (Eugene, OR) releases their seasonal American Pale Ale, Spring Reign (6%, 38 IBUs). The beer is brewed with Simcoe, Santiam, and Ahtanum hops.
Hopworks Urban Brewery (Portland, OR) will offer their seasonal Organic Galactic Imperial Red Ale (9.5%, 100 IBUs), brewed with organic Cascade and Centennial hops.
Three Floyds (Munster, IN) Rabid Rabbit Farmhouse Ale (7.4%, 25 IBUs) releases in March. Tickets for their annual Dark Lord Day will also go live online, on March 17th at noon. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April26th.
Bayou Tech (Amaudville, LA) should release their seasonal Biere de Garde, Courir de Mardi Gras (7.0%, 24 IBUs). The beer is brewed with Pilsner, Munich, and Wheat malts.
BrewDog (Scotland) releases Abstrakt AB 15 (12.8%), a Barrel-Aged Salted Caramel Imperial Ale. Aged in a combo of bourbon and rum barrels.
Fort Collins Brewery (Fort Collins, CO) releases their seasonal Maibock (6.4%, 34 IBUs) in March. The beer is malt-forward with biscuity flavors and a clean finish.
Adelbert’s (Austin, TX) will release The Traveler, a Belgian Style IPA, as a brand new offering in March. Balanced IPA with fruity and citrusy notes.
Karbach Brewing (Houston, TX) releases Barn Burner (6.6%, 20 IBUs), their seasonal Saison flavored with citrus peels and coriander.
River North Brewery (Denver, Co) releases Quad on Oak (10.2%) in March. The Belgian Style Quadrupel was aged in oak for up to 3 years. Notes of sweet malt and dark fruit.
Victory Brewing (Downington, PA) will offer a new draft only release called Hop Ticket (5.4%). The beer is a Hoppy Wheat Ale brewed with Simcoe, Citra, Cascade, and Tettnang hops.
Mother’s Brewing (Springfield, MO) releases Three Blind Mice (9.6%, 38 IBUs) in March, a malty Imperial Brown Ale.
Fulton Beer (Minneapolis, MN) will offer their seasonal Saison, The Expat (6.3%, 30 IBUs), which is brewed with a portion of Rye Malt.
Indeed Brewing’s (Minneapolis, MN) seasonal Coffee Brown Ale, Burr Grinder (5.1%, 13 IBUs), releases in March.
Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs, CO) releases their Wee Banshee Irish Heather Ale (7%) on St. Patrick’s Day. The ale is brewed with Vienna and Victory malts, and flavored with heather tips.
Big Boss Brewing (Raleigh, NC) releases their seasonal German Style Dunkelweizen. D’Icer (5.5%) is a map-forward lager brewed with Vienna, Munich, and Wheat malts.
Jack’s Abby (Framingham, MA) releases their Cascadian Schwarzbier (6.8%, 78 IBUs), and India Dark Lager brewed with Magnum, Centennial, Cascade, Columbus, and Cluster hops.
Brasserie Dieu di Ciel (Quebec, Canada) will offer their seasonal Equinox du Printemps (9.1%), a malty Maple Scotch Ale brewed with fresh maple syrup.
Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales (Dexter, MI) will offer their seasonal Biere de Mars (7%), a Biere de Garde style aged in oak barrels with wild yeast.
Dark Horse Brewing (Marshall, MI) Sapient Trip Ale (8.5%), a Belgian Style Tripel, becomes available in March.
Sun King (Indianapolis, IN) Ring of Dingle (4.7%, 34 IBUs) Dry Irish Style Stout becomes available in March, and in time for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
Dogfish Head (Milton, DE) releases their seasonal Aprihop (7%, 50 IBUs), an Apricot Flavored IPA.
