New Craft Beer Releases – May Update
Sierra Nevada’s Hoptimum hits shelves and taps this month. The beer weighs in at 10.4% abv, and is heavily hopped with Magnum, Simoce, Chinook, and Citra. Malts used to brew the beer include Pale 2-row, Golden Promise from Scotland, Munich, and Wheat. The beer is seasonally available May through August.
Deep Ellum Brewing, out of Dallas, Texas just released their Numb Comfort, a whiskey barrel-aged barleywine, weighing in at 11-12% abv. The beer is brewed with Chinook, Willamette, and Summit hops, and fermented with an English Ale yeast. Deep Ellum’s spring seasonal Farmhouse Wit is also available in cans and on draft. The beer is a fusion of a Belgian Style Witbier and a Saison.
Surly Brewing’s Bitter Brewer, an English Style Bitter release in cans and bottles this month. The beer is brewed with Pale, Optic, and Crystal malts, with oats and roasted barley. Hopping is done with American Glacier and Columbus hops. Bitter Brewer fits the bill of a session beer, at 4.1% abv.
Deschutes Brewery Twilight Summer Ale comes out in bottles and on draft this month. An American Blonde Ale brewed with five different hop varieties, and weighing in at 5.0% abv.
Odell Brewing’s Double Pilsner is released this month in bottles and on tap. The beer is brewed in the style of an Imperial Bohemian Pilsner, with 8.1% abv. The brewery’s St. Lupulin seasonal pale ale also releases this month. The beer is dry-hopped for added hop aromas, and weighs in at 6.5% abv.
Anderson Valley’s Summer Solstice Cream Ale is now on shelves in cans. The beer is 5.0% abv., and is brewed with pale malt, and two varieties of Crystal malts.
Goose Island Summertime Ale is currently available, a German Style Kolsch with 5.1% abv.
Totally Naked, from New Glarus Brewing is now available. A crisp lager brewed with Noble hops from Germany and the Czech Republic.
Lagunitas Brewing Lucky 13 .alt releases this month in bottles and on draft. A malt forward beer coming in at 8.6% abv.
Southern Star Brewing in Conroe, Texas released their Red Cockaded Imperial IPA in May. The beer is heavily hopped with Pacific Northwest hops, and weighs in at 8.5% abv.
Rahr & Sons Brewing in Fort Worth, Texas, releases their Summertime Wheat in May. The beer is brewed in the style of an unfiltered German Hefeweizen, with notes of wheat, banana, and clove. Available in bottles and on draft.
Saint Arnold Brewing in Houston releases their next Icon Series beer this month. An Amarillo Hefeweizen, unfiltered German Style Wheat Beer.
Full Sail’s LTD 05 Vienna Style Lager is on shelves through June. An amber lager at 5.6% abv., and brewed with Czech Saaz hops.
Bell’s Brewery in Michigan releases their summer seasonal wheat beer, Oberon Ale, in May. Brewed to 5.8% abv., and available in bottles and on draft.
