Smoked Beers include a wide range of styles; German Rauchbier Smoked Lagers, Smoked Porters, Smoked Scottish Ales, Smoked Saisons, Smoked Strong Ales, Smoked Stouts, Smoked IPAs and more.

Smoke flavor  in beer has a long history, going back to when grains were dried over wood fires for the brewing process. Brewers use a wide variety of woods to impart smoke flavor into brewing grains, including; oak, pecan, beechwood, cherrywood, birch, maple, and other fruit woods. For Scottish Style ales, the use of peat-smoked malt (in moderation) is common, which adds a very deep smoky flavor.

The town of Bamberg, Germany is famous for smoked lagers, where they have been continuously brewed for hundreds of years. Beechwood fires are used to smoke grains, which imparts a strong but pleasant smoke flavor. The classic Marzen style Rauchbier lager from the region is brewed with 100% smoked malt. Most smoked beers are typically brewed with 15-50% smoked malt.
