Favorite Breweries and Craft Beers in Texas

Texas has been on a strong growth curve for craft beer sales, and has several outstanding breweries in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and surrounding areas. Too many to list, so we picked some of our favorites from each region. Whether you live in state or are visiting Texas, you can find great craft beer in and around all the major metropolitan areas.

Dallas Area Breweries and Craft Beers
Deep Ellum Brewing

Deep Ellum brews a nice selection of year-round, seasonal, and special release beers. We’re huge fans of their IPA, Farmhouse Wit, and Rye Pilsner. Deep Ellum IPA (7%), is brewed with Citra, Amarillo, Chinook, Palisade, and Summit hops, giving it complex fruity, piney, and citrusy hop aromas and flavors. Farmhouse Wit is a flavorful and refreshing hybrid combining traits of a Belgian Wit and Farmhouse Saison. Their Rye Pilsner (4.6%), is smooth and crisp with a touch of rye spiciness. The beer is brewed with Liberty, Mt. Hood, and Sterling hops.

Lakewood Brewing

Lakewood Brewing produces some nice beers out of Garland, Texas. Lakewood Lager (4.6%) is their year-round Vienna Style Lager, which is smooth, crisp, and balanced. They also have a great Fall seasonal Spiced German Style Dunkel, called Punkel (5.4%). Their special Winter release, Temptress (9.1%), is also very good. A Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Milk Stout, which is smooth and creamy with notes of bourbon, vanilla, and roasted malts.
