The Best Craft Brewed Fruit Beers

Fuit Beers are very popular with craft beer drinkers. A couple decades ago they barely existed in America, except for a few imported Belgian Lambics which were sought after by beer aficionados. Since then, the popularity of fruit flavored Belgian Lambics and other fruit beer styles has exploded.

The majority of fruit beers are brewed in the style of wheat beers, including Lambics, American Wheat Beers, and Berliner Weisse beers. Adventurous craft brewers also add fruit to other styles like Brown Ales, Stouts, and Pale Ales.

Fruit is typically added during the secondary fermentation, or aging stage. It’s very common to age fruit beers in oak barrels and other wooden vessels. Many craft brewers also accentuate the natural tartness from fruit by fermenting these beers with lactobacillus which creates a sour profile.

Craft brewed fruit beers can be some of the most refreshing beers to drink, and are fantastic choices for hot weather months.
